Hi all, Well she's our indoor while we battle outside feral, Blackie, in the apts yet. Soon in 2 months we need trap & finish his neuter. But Syl's rushed ER last wkend to vet showed her rite hock has joint disease, but for her unknown age (we think about 12-13 yrs) that is older senior arthritis. heck i'm 60 now so know what its like myself.
Ok, her SDMA kidney marker test as on scale 0-14, is a 7, so good! As over 14 indicates about 25% kidny is gone. Just FYI for those of u who've never had it. DO it on ur cat next vet trip-- if u can. it can make early diet changes to insure better survival for kidney disease prone kitties.
Ok, he T4 level is good. Her creatinine was good at 1.9 despite hi protein raw food, aka Stells & Chewys Selects turk or chick. Also Vital Essentials' rabbit, duck & -- dog beef, yes dog beef, but it has taurine in it -- so no defiency worries there.
Ok, just overall a good report minus her limp which optionally was given a script for gabapentin but she seems, ok so haven't filled the Gaba as less is more in older cats & NOT taxing their bodies w/ meds uneeded -- unless 100% needed.
Blackie, the feral, has a SDMA kidney test marker of 16 on scale 0-14 back in Dec when we got him for his 1/2 neuter to vet (1 teste is up in abs like an ovary thus needs explore surg next time in to find & remove it yet). So he may have signs of maybe early kidney dis.
Ok, just FYI for u all!
