I just rescued a 9 week old bengal kitten last night from someone off of Craigslist and need some advice on how to feed him. The previous owners left me roughly 2.5 lbs of the cat food he had been eating, but they couldn't remember what it was called, just that it was supposedly organic and high protein. It looked way to big to be kitten food, but he ate it with no problems and acted like a happy, healthy, high energy kitten.
Today i bought him Blue Buffalo Wilderness for kittens and have been mixing it with the old food. He loves it so much he picks it out and eats it first. I feel bad feeding him the old food at all but i know how easy it is to upset their stomachs with a new food too fast. My problem now is what do i do when i run out of the old food in a day or two? I know that's not going to be enough time for his stomach to adjust to the new food and i don't want him to get diarrhea.
I am also unsure exactly how much to feed and how often. The feeding instructions on the bag start at 5 lbs and he can't be much more than 2 lbs if even that. He is so little! I don't understand why the breeder sold him off so young. Normally they wait 12 weeks before they let them leave mom and siblings.
Any and all advice is appreciated!
