The term "pin head fillings" must be a UK thing as I've never heard of them. Perhaps different materials are used??? A filing would only have to be redone in unusual cases. I as I bet many others go twice/yr to the dentist. Cleanings are done at both visits and I'm on a schedule for xrays too.
I switched dentists about 2yrs ago and am now going to the same one my husband sees. The other I felt was money hungry. Wanted to crown a molar that I have extensive filings in. I know that eventually I may need a crown but the filing had been good for at least 7 yrs now!!. For a while I was grinding my teeth and wanted to make a custom mouth guard (this means $$$). Well my teeth grinding stopped and I've heard the custom mouth guards are hard to use.
So I concur that you are being taken and should see someone else. I think the semi-annual visits for the checkup and cleaning are less than $70.
