I had the hardest time getting out of bed today. I turned my alarm off at 7 and then just slept for another hour. Fortunately I don't work for a couple more hours...
What's your alarm clock? Is it the cats, other pets, the radio, that traditional "buzzer" alarm, or one of those cool but ultimately annoying alarms that you have to get up and catch to turn off? Or are you lucky enough to not need one?
Depending on the time I need to wake up, mine varies because I have so many alarms set for different times on different days and I stagger them a few minutes apart so if I turn one off without thinking or getting up, the five that follow will certainly wake me.
Sometimes it's the Benny Hill theme, sometimes it's 9 hard drum beats to start a live concert cover of Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You (so it's an enthusiastic and loud "I LOVE YOU BA-BY" to kick it off), sometimes the beginning of a techno-y sounding pop song that has a sequence of beats and then high pitched counting 1-2-3. The ones that scare the crap out of me are the most effective, and I rush to turn them off so it has a minimal impact on my boyfriend's sleep, especially when I'm getting up at 5:30am.
More recently I added the mp3 of this (which is what woke me this morning) because I think it's adorable, as well as a short blip of the same character saying "keikoku keikoooooku!" (warning waaaaarning!) Once I get set on a routine, I seldom need the alarms but I always set them for reassurance and I think they're a fun way to wake up.
On days I sleep in, my boyfriend's alarm - a classic rock radio station - will make me stir but I don't always wake up. It's not very often the cats wake me up, which I'm grateful for. Mo is relentless bugging my boyfriend but he knows I'm not budging and would sooner just kick him out of bed so he tends to not try with me! Once he tried to lick me, which is what he does with the boyfriend, and deservedly wound up getting a mouthful of hair and then I just brushed him off the edge of the bed.
