In order to keep the peace, I need to have both cats' nails trimmed every few weeks so there's no imbalance. I hesitate to sling two cages into the back seat of my car without making them secure as I don't want them sliding around

Any suggestions?

Or place the carriers on the floor behind the front seats if there is room.
I completely agree, that's what I do.👍 I put the carrier on the floor of the back seats and, if necessary, move the front seats up a little to make room. That way there's no wiggle room for the carrier to slide around and they are secure on the floor. I remember one time when our dog was in the car and I had to make a sudden stop to avoid another car that was driving to fast from hitting me. Even though our dog had a harness attached to the seat belt the impact of me slamming on the brakes was so great that he nearly fell off the seat. Ever since then I always put the cat carrier on the floor.

Thanks. I'll give that a try next time they have to go the vet.
