Hello, I just wanted to ask if this is typical behavior ...my 1 yr old queen (due in June) has always (since I got her very young) kneeded on blankets or clothing and suckles the blanket or clothing while doing it. She'll even kneed my shirt (not without a certain amount of pain on my part) and suckle my shirt as if its a mammary gland, lol. Her fav thing to suckle is my super soft plush blankie I curl up with on the couch. She'll kneed on me for about 15 minutes...which is almost comforting if her claws are filed :-D Is this fairly common? All my cats knees on me but none have ever done the suckling thing as well. Kind of gross sometimes because I come across blankets and clothes that have wet spots on them, lol.

It is fairly common in cats who were weaned early. I got my kitten at 8 weeks and he still does it 2 years later. Some people call it smurgling, lol. If you do a search at the top of this site you can read more about it.
