[Fur Baby Mom]

I fostered a total of 32 kittens and never lost one, but I’m out of practice for 6 years now.

I found a kitten while out walking by the side of the road. I went home, grabbed some food as I thought maybe there was/is a colony and walked back up to the location. The kitten was in the same area (it’s dark out as I’m on the east coast). Didn’t run from me and was maybe a few inches from the pavement. I put out food, kitten didn’t budge and one other kitten showed up but was was much more lively. I picked up the kitten and brought it home.

Kitten traits:
1. Can jump a couple of inches
2. Walks just fine
3. Hisses at times
4. Holds tail up
5. Eyes and ears are open/erect
6. Mews
7. Ate crushed up cat kibble
8. Doesn’t have pudgy belly


Questions
1. Best food? (formula, can food, kibble)
2. Age?
3. Is the kitten old enough to control its temperature?
4. Old enough to use the bathroom on its own?

Here’s some pictures. I will get more later but the kitten is sleeping.


The person holding the kitten is 6 feet tall for reference.


Ps I live in a very rural area.

I was able to find the rest of the kittens family, including Mom. One of the other kittens started cuddling with the one I found right away.

Goats milk is always good, either as formula or supplement. That is my tip.
He seems to be 5 weeks.

What did you do as you reumited them?
Took hom back to live the life of feral or took on them all?

Now is a good age for easy fostering.

Is the whole family with you now?

Black kittens tend to have very sweet, laid back temperaments. Hopefully he is doing well.

Are all kittens still nursing mom?

They may begin weaning in the next week or two to kitten chow and soft pate-style wet food.

The mom and 2 kittens are with one of neighbors who has more experience and resources than I do.

I do love black cats as they have extremely sweet personalities.

That's great that you helped rescue the kittens. Are there only 2, or is one still with you? If they're still nursing, they should stay with the mom, and remain safely inside.
