Hi there,

We adopted a 9 week old black male DSH about three weeks ago. He seems to have an inordinate amount of guard hairs for a black kitty, and he also has ghost tabby stripes. He has a sparse white locket too.

But his belly is what I'm most curious about... It's strange. Almost a mix between gray and black color. I don't know what the official term is, but I would call it smoke.

Here are some (blurry) pics:

Is this an unsound or fever coat? Or is he just a weird little baby? :lol3:

Here are some more pictures. I have these with flash and no flash, with him lying on a red couch under an incandescent light next to my tuxedo boy, Boots.

More belly pics

With flash

No flash

With Boots

You can see how much lighter he is

More belly

And one of his foreleg so you can see the faint tabby stripes,

His locket

Finally, the other side. next to Boots again

With the locket and the belly, it almost seems like he's trying very hard to be a tuxedo cat... but just can't quite make it. :lol3:

You won't know for a while, but it could be fevercoat, I guess.  Or just a sprinking of white.  Who knows?
