How do I know when my cat is begining to start labor? She has a white discharge coming out of her. She has been eating but I'm not sure if it's less than she normally has been.
Are there any other 'signs' that you have noticed other than the discharge? Does she have milk producing from her nipples? Milk is normally present 1-2 days before delivery. Is she searching for a place to give birth?Originally Posted by olskoolnodoubtr
I've only seen the discharge once. So it isn't happening anymore that I can see. She was acting a little nervous last night. I locked her in our room and gave her food and water. She is still eating though. Could she be starting labor or not? The article doesn't really tell me what I'm asking I think.
Now, I'm not expert, but my cats have been pregnant, so to me it sounds like she is getting closer to labor, since the discharge has a little blood, and she is walking around like that. But it has taken almost a day, so I don't know if it will happen anytime soon; you may end up taking her to the vet in a few days.Originally Posted by olskoolnodoubtr
Last night she was walking around the living room like she was nervous. She doesn't normally sniff corners and walk around without laying down somewhere. She has been laying in the box we have for her finally. She is still eating and going potty. I called a vets office, they said it sounds like she is getting ready and that if she doesn't have her babies within the next few days to take her in. Which is my main concern, we can't afford a whole lot right now. So I'm hoping we can find a vet that will take monthly payments. She is still having the discharge, which isn't white. It's a browinsh, red, off white color. She doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort. So I'm hoping everything will go well and that she'll have them soon. I'm not sure if I should be able to see milk coming out of her, but when I tried to check I felt a liquid sticky substance..it felt kinda like sweat. But I'm not really sure how to explain it either.
I have read of cats holding back on delivering until their owner is there...so you may want to stay with her..take a book to read. Did you set her up with some boxes? How about the other signs I stated above. Milk from her nipples shows approximately 1-2 days before delivery.Originally Posted by olskoolnodoubtr
I went to check on her just now and to open up our room. The heat doesn't work to well in it so it get's cold fast. She came out for a few minutes and went back in. Could it be possible she wants someone in the room with her? I think all she's doing really is sleeping. She is having the white discharge coming out. It isn't watery, it looks thick. It isn't gusinh out eithr, I think it's just every so often. I forgot what else I was going to say because my 14 month think she needs to type also lol.
Well..it's ok to let her have them in your bedroom..but then daddy cat cannot have access to the room until she is spayed. Sounds like she is ready to deliver.Originally Posted by olskoolnodoubtr
I would love to go sit in our bedroom with her but I have a 14 month old daughter to also take care of. My hands are tied sadly. She has been laying in her box at night when we sleep as far as I know. Usually when she naps in our room it's on our bed or under it. I've had her in our room all day pretty much. I've let her out a few times to visit and to let the room warm up. But as soon as our daughter or other cat head in there, she elaves and won't go back in unless i scoot them out. She's still eating and going potty. I have no dea if I should be able to see her milk or not. I did feel a sweaty sticky substance on her nipples though. However, she won't let me touch any part of her now. She yells at me if I try to picj her up, look at tummy or try to touch it. I'm pretty sure she's already set to have them in my bedroom.
I hope it works out.Originally Posted by olskoolnodoubtr
well both my duaghter and other cat are sleeping for now. hopefully they stay that way. our bedroom is really the only place that has no traffic. shes been laying on our bed oretty much all day. shes sleeping normally. im going to call 2 more vets tomorrow and see if they're willing to help. i really don't want to give up my cat because no ones willing to work with us on payments.
Well...let's hope that she delivers ok then and if you have concerns...Gayef is a good person to PM questions. Also, do you need the list again of low cost spay/neuter clinics? That way, when you can afford it, you can get your male neutered and your female spayed (just keep them separate for now). Depending on your state, there may be several that offer very low cost spaying/neutering.Originally Posted by olskoolnodoubtr
Called the vet todayy and told them when she was last in heat. They said she shpuld be due around now. And that the discharge is probablt her just getting ready. They said not to worry too much unless the discharge turns green or is nothing but blood, and she shows signs of distress or problems delivering. None of them except payment plans tho. All they have is a credit card which I know I can't get cause i Hvae bad credit.
