I have two cats. The female one likes to use a high pitched squeak - sometimes it seems it's for attention, other times there seems to be no reason at all. HOWEVER, almost every morning now, after my husband leaves for work at 5AM, she leaves the bed and goes to the kitchen or living room and starts squeaking loudly. I also have a pet gate that she rattles, and a mirror above a console table that she rubs herself against (it makes noise and makes me nervous that the glass will break). She sleeps fine at night and has no interest in moving about until this 5AM hour. It has taken me almost an hour to get her back into bed. I feed her, I pet her (she likes to jump on the counter and have a belly rub). She will come back to bed, curl up next to me, and then leave again and do the same thing all over - this happens 3 or 4 times. Sometimes when she finally gets calm, my male cat decides he wants to get close to her and she won't have it - and jumps off the bed and starts again.I have tried going back to bed myself in the living room so that she can see me as she's moving about and eventually come settle down with me - occasionally that has worked. I have also tried the spray bottle, but it doesn't keep her from doing it again. This morning I brought some dry food into the bedroom and shut the door with both cats inside with me. I don't think she realized the door was closed but she just happened to finally settle down. I am wondering in the future if I should continue to try to contain her in the bedroom. Any suggestions? I feel like a basket-case when I finally do get another hour sleep -- and of course she's relaxed and sleeping by then and doesn't even bother to get up, now that I'm up!
