Hello,
I have two lovely maine coon cats. One 5-year-old female.
And her son, who is 3 years old. They are both indoor cats.
He is neutered and now he is getting fat. Is he getting fat because he is neutered?

What is the best food for neutered cats? And to keep them slim?

I now feed both of them "Sensible " It's dry food from Royal Canin.
Has anybody tried "Young Male S/O" from Royal Canin?

Marianne

I have never used that food so I cannot help you out there. But if your cat is bordering on obese then I would talk to a vet about the best diet food. It is not generally a good idea to put your cat on a diet yourself. If he has a little pooch by the belly that hangs down and swings back and forth then don't worry about it too much. That is called a spay sway. Males and females get it and it usually stops there. Just a little pooch of fat that hangs down. Exercise him a little more, play with him, get him to interact with toys, get some cat trees and things for him to climb on and that should be all you need to do. Just keep him on the healthier foods and keep him active and that should be fine.

I too like all wet or raw but realize that is not feasible for all

If you are feeding adult sensible choice I would recommend the reduced calorie sensible choice as it is a rare light food that only reduces the fat and actually increases the protein...

adult is 30 % protein 15 fat

reduced is 33 protein and 9 fat
