Ferris was acting SO strangely last night - but in a good way.
I got home quite late last evening, after taking some time to ride my motorcycle in what's left of this absolutely gorgeous weather we've been having. Normally they get fed their wet supper at between 8:30-9:30 p.m., but last night I wasn't able to put food down for them until just after 11 pm!
The food gets put down in this order: Ferris first, then Penny, then Ginger. These little guys know their lineup and are always waiting to shove their heads into their bowls.
Well, last night, Ferris stayed lying down in the kitchen doorway, watching me, but would not budge from his spot to come to his bowl. Worried, I tried to cajole him to no avail. So I went toward him, thinking I'd pick him up and carry him to his bowl, but instead he jumped up and led me down the hall to the livingroom, whereupon he turned around to face me and started meowing up a storm at me!
At first I thought he was mad because dinner was so late.
Asking him what he wanted, he just meowed louder and louder until he was almost screaming at me, so then I asked him if he wanted to skip dinner and get special cuddles instead - well, wouldn't you know it, that's exactly what he wanted!!!
So while the girls ate in the other room, Ferris jumped up into my lap and had an extra special, really touchy-feely cuddle session with me that we both thoroughly enjoyed.
When the girls finished their food and came back toward the living room, that's when Ferris decided it was time to go eat - he'd had me all to himself for as long as was possible at that moment - my little lovebug.
So, that was that, I thought, and then I did some other things around the house before finally going off to bed quote late, close to 1 a.m.
But then, as I was starting to fall asleep, Ferris jumped up onto my bed and curled up really, REALLY close to my head, and I mean really close. I was already lying on my pillow, and all I had to do was close my eyes and snuggle an inch forward, and my cheek was cuddled up against Ferris' left shoulder, my forehead against the side of his cheek. I had one hand resting on his rump - he likes to feel the weight of my hand on him.
And then he stretched out his paw to rest it on my arm, and he purred, and purred, and purred some more - I was literally in heaven.
My former feral has become THE sweetest boy, I can't even describe how wonderful and special it felt for me to be snuggled up with him like that - even though it didn't last as long as I would have liked. The cable TV went out, and he heard the girls making noise in the other room, so off he went to investigate, my good little watchcat.
It was so special while it lasted. Could I be any more in love with this little guy?
