So, I work at my college tech support desk. It's not a whole lot of fun, but it's great experience and I get to work with computers. (Plus I'm allowed to browse the 'net all day.) But we get our fair share of annoyances- law school students who insist that if the wireless internet is down for 5 MINUTES there'll be hell to pay, people who don't really know what a mouse is, people who buy all the latest computer peripherals without realizing that they don't have a clue how to use them... and on Monday I thought we had another annoyance- a chinese woman with a capstone project that needed margin/editing help. Well, I know my way around Microsoft word pretty well, so I spent about an hour helping her. She got nicer and nicer as time went on, and thanked me profusely at the end of it. Today she came in again, asked for my help (and remembered my name)- I helped her for about 15 minutes, and we were done. As I was getting up to go back to my station, she said she had something for me- a present from china.
It's a gorgeous silk scarf. The print is brown and tan and black and I adore it.
Now I have to go buy a matching dress....
