We have two cats both are almost five years old.
One is a long haired black cat (neutered male) and the other is a silver female tabby (spayed).
Having an issue with the black cat.
He is currently pooping very loose stools I would almost say diarrhea that are EXTREMELY smelly. I first realized there was a problem, when I was putting some laundry away and realized that he'd pooped on the laundry, then when I came home thinking it was a stinky litter box mess to realize that it was on the carpet.
( I was at home once in the living room and then found him trying to go right in the middle of the living room on the carpet (I grabbed him and tried desperately to bring him to the litter box) as he just let go (not a lot) and just pooped. )
It seems that its hit or miss whether he'll go to the litter box or not.
We thought we'd give it a couple of days before we took him to the vet to see if it straightened itself out or not, but he was going to the litter box for the last few days, and the poop was still soft it seemed like it was getting a bit better, but then today again just pooped not in his litter box.
We keep the litter box extremely clean. I clean it everyday (sometimes literally after the cat poops) and clean the entire thing maybe once a week or once every two weeks.
Both cats are being fed a mixture of:
Royal Canin Medi Cal (Dental Dry)
&
Royal Canin Medi Cal (Preventative)
They have both been on the preventative since they were very young, and the Dental was added about a year ago and haven't had any issues until now. (The dental was added after we realized one of our cats had serious dental issues had to have some teeth pulled as it seemed he was only eating wet food and it had become an issue)
Both cats continue to eat fine, drink plenty of water and energy level seems the same, no additional stress in the household as far as I can tell.
Any ideas from well anyone?
