The vet didn't mention anything about antibiotics, but DID okay the use of L-Lysine paste (I guess you could call it that, even though it's more of a gel consistency). They had Maple "flavor" in stock and said that I could mix 1/2 tsp into Simon's food twice a day.

He had some concern about me buying this supplement anywhere else because it wasn't regulated and might not have any lysine in it - but I found the exact same brand (Viralys) on amazon, so worst case scenario, I have an alternate option.

I'm quite familiar with L lysine. Had to pick some up at my vet's office the end of October. Was a little shocked by the price. Planning to add it to my next Chewy order. They have same brand (maple flavored Viralys) for almost 40% less & no issues with quality of items (I order every 3 or 4 weeks).
