Hi everyone!

My cat Clyde just had a full dental last week and this morning, I noticed he was limping a little bit on his front right paw. After inspecting the paw, I didn’t find any wounds or bite marks, but did notice that he had litter stuck under one of his claws.

Any possibility that since his claws were clipped last week, that the clumped litter could be causing the pain? He is still eating well and drinking well, as well as jumping onto furniture. (I will be consulting with the vet, but just wanted to hear some input from owners.)

Other things to consider: he was given an injection of a two week antibiotic before the surgery and I’m wondering if that would have ward off any infection in case I’m just missing a wound if it is there.

Hi! Keep an eye on his walking, that piece of litter may have been the culprit :)

Thanks for replying! I cleaned it out this morning and just went to check his paws again. This time, he didn’t flinch as much then I palpitated his arm and paw. I’m hoping it was just the litter!

Same thing happened to my cat recently. We found somehing strange stuck between her toes (still not sure what it was) and after carefully removing it, she was fine again. I hope it was just the litter for you too!

Was the limp instantly gone afterwards or did it take a day or two? We are onto day two and I noticed this morning that he was a bit stiff when he woke up, but then it was barely noticeable. I’m hoping it’s something simple and have a call going in to the vet when they open.
