Skin Irritated And Getting Worse

Our older cat has this skin irritation that seems to be getting worse. There's been some mild scabs in the area for the past two weeks but I only noticed them when petting him. Yesterday and then today the area has lost fur and looks more inflamed. We don't see him scratching and his behavior doesn't indicate any distress. We're going to the vet on Monday, but in the meantime is there anything we can do to keep it clean or prevent more problems

it looks pretty clean and pink, but you can clean it with normal saline. (Just plain water might sting.). Then cover it with a very thin film of Vaseline or an antibiotic ointment. From the location, I don’t see how it got there except for scratching; it’s not an area he can lick. I’m glad you are taking him to the vet. Please keep us updated on how he does.
