Some of you may have read my post about DH's sister catching the strays at her Mil's house. She took three of them a few weeks ago to be vetted, spayed or neutered and we managed to find good homes for all three. Not an easy thing to do in this economy...and with all the cat-lovers in the immediate family maxed out to the limit on cats. (DH & I - 4 and then 1 at his office; Sil - 3 + a dog; other Sil - 3 or 4 + a dog; Mil - 3 + a dog.)
Now Sil's caught three more. Once again, Mil is keeping them in the large bathroom at her house until they recover from their surgeries and calm down a bit. Sil reports they were much harder to catch this time, having seen the first three cats being trapped in cages.
The bad/good news is that someone dented Sil's car at work. When she took it in for service, she remembered that there were cat lovers at the car dealership. So she's found a home for one of the cats, and a lead to another possible good home.
The funny thing is, she ended up trapping a red tabby. He's not a regular at her Mil's. Sil doesn't think he's a stray - he just comes around to visit and eat. She thinks he belongs to her Mil's neighbor. But she decided to have him neutered anyway; heck, he was already in the cage.
We certainly didn't want him getting anyone pregnant. We have got the biggest laugh out of this (I know...we're awful.) He came to visit and ended up neutered. She's going to return him as soon as he has recovered. She said she bet he'd never come back to visit and would probably throw himself off a cliff!
