I have a new (to me) cat. I've had her home for two weeks (yesterday). The only info I have on her is that she's a year and a half old, and that she was an owner surrender in Tennessee (I'm in NY state). I know it's normal for cats to always want to eat, and they don't have a shut off. But, with my Patches, it seems crazy!
She's 8 lbs and has a small frame. The vet says she's fine at her weight, but he doesn't want her to gain anymore weight. He also says my feeding regimen is appropriate (half a 5.5 oz can of Dave's wet food in the morning, and 1/4 cup of Whole Earth Farms dry at night). But, she ALWAYS wants MORE! She's constantly meowing at me, and even more so if we're in the kitchen. She goes absolutely crazy as I'm putting her food down. She is constantly trying to get into my food, my cup, etc. Any suggestions? Is this normal? Is it just playful? Is there something to it? Do I ignore it, or do I need to pay attention?
