Shadow Obsession

Hi everyone! Wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience?

My male cat Ramses (he's now almost 2 years old) has recently developed a very strong obsession with shadows on the walls, or any moving lights in the house. It's not problematic but very funny. He was never as interested in them as a kitten and it seems to have developed recently. I had another male cat in my childhood that seemed to develop the obsession with age as well. I wonder if it is an age / male cat thing, or if it's just another weird cat behavior?

He will literally sit and stare at a wall for half an hour if he spots a shadow moving there, and he throws himself / chatters at them too. It's too cute.

I think it is prey hunting behavior and of course entertainment. Once they think something is there that they might catch, cats can get totally obsessed. Just the same way that a cat that thinks they have found a mouse might sit in the same place for 24 hours waiting, your cat waits for the shadow creatures for hours on end.

I did a quick site search to see if anything similar came up, and I did find one post where Lari mentions that her cat Leila is "obsessed with moving lights and shadows" so maybe if she sees this thread, she'll comment.
