i took my cat Oliver to the vet on Feb 2 because I noticed his eye was watery and closed. Turns out the he has a scratch on his eye, doctor gave him eye drops and he has to wear a cone. I feel so bad for my baby boy, it makes me want to cry. Has anyone been through this with a cat? Will my cat heal without having any vision problems? He hates the eye drops and when I have to clean his eye out.

I have had a cat with a scratched eye. Your kitty shouldn't have any problems. Just keep putting the eye drop in his eye. If you notice any change or it looks worse, then get him back to the vet.

Thank you! He is finally started to eat again and coming out more, he hides under my bed. He sees the vet tomorrow. I hope the vet sees some improvement. Is the eye supposed to be cloudy?

Hi!
I don't know anything about cats eyes, but I wanted to say that I'm keeping you and your baby in my thoughts and prayers that the vet visit is a good one .
Please let us know what your vet says :)

Yes it’s a antibiotic eye drops. It’s killing me to see him in this condition.

It is hard. I have a cat that has a condition that requires daily drops for the rest of her life so I know how you feel. The unpleasantness of the drops only lasts seconds and it is for his benefit. Make a fuss of him and give him his favourite treat straight after applying the drop, that can help.

One of my cats, got a scratch on his eye from a stray claw from one of the others. It was terrible, he got what the vet called "uncontrollable tissue regrowth". He said it was common in dogs but not cats. The eye tissue was growing back over and making him unable to see. After like 3 months and a dozen vet visits, he is finally better. My vet says some of the scarring will be permanent but he should be fine. THIS is a worse case scenario. Most cats are hardy creatures, who do well with complications. I absolutely hated seeing the vet scooping a sample out of my dear kitties eye with a cue tip for analysis. Even after all these scary words I have typed, he is perfectly fine now. Don't worry yourself to death, I've been there. And there are plenty of cats who live happy lives with only one eye, if the worst happens.

Now I am worried about this other eye. I notice that there is more white showing in the inner corner of his eye. He does not have any symptoms with his good eye, just showing more white. I will ask the vet about this. He has been out all morning today and snuggling up against my girl kitty.
