Whenever Rick goes away, he needs his cookies. I always bake him snickerdoodles and chocolate chip cookies for him to munch on at night while he's watching tv in his room. I also get him a pound of roasted, salted cashews from our local natural food store. He just loves cashews. And then I get him 1/2 pound of chocolate covered pretzels from our local candy store. They make their own chocolate and it's very good.
Rick does little scavenger hunts with me while he's away. On Sunday afternoon, I found the package of Pepperidge Farm Double Chocolate Milano cookies fairly easily. His clue was, "You don't like this woman". I figured it out.....my kids gave me a Paula Deen cookbook several years ago for Christmas. And no, I don't like her at all. Went back to my cookbook book case in the computer room, pulled the PD cookbook out and got my package of cookies. That one only took one clue.
This last one was difficult. He had texted me clues, but I was having trouble anyway. One clue was "It will take you all day to find it". The other clue was "You'll be slower with this one". I was thinking clocks, calendars, timers, you name it. And nothing was right. Well, last night around 10:00 or so, he texted me to see if I had found my prize. And I hadn't and I was getting frustrated. We went back over the clues and then he said, "You're not even warm." Warm? Warm? Nothing in the microwave. "The microwave is pretty quick cooking." Hmmm, I knew there was nothing in the oven because I had roasted some tomatoes the other day. "Oh, you're too fast." Fast? Too fast? Crock pot! (Crock pots cook all day, so they're slow, not fast. And they're warm.)
It's 11:00 at night. I got out of bed and ran out the hallway into the kitchen. Pulled the chair over to the fridge. Got up on the chair, opened the cabinet door where I keep my crock pots and pulled each one out. And there was a bag of peanut M & Ms in my large green crock pot. Gotcha!
(They were delicious!)
The man is a hoot.
