I am a few days late because of computer and phone problems, but May 23 was my orange (ginger) cat Sarah's 19th birthday. She was dumped on August 23, 1998 at a church I was attending here in Southern California. She was three months old.
She was a cute girl with big bat ears who turned into a beautiful young lady. She is still energetic and playful, sharing her life with my other orange cat, Eric, who will be 17 in July.
His previous owners moved and left him behind because he had an upper respiratory infection, and they didn't have the money to take him to the vet.
I took him in when he was 2-1/2, and he has been an indoor cat since then. Sarah has been an indoor girl since the day I took her in.
Both are big cats -- Sarah at 12 pounds (5.4 kilos) and Eric at 18 pounds (8 kilos). They are my joy, and I hope I have them for a long time.
Happy Birthday, Sarah. You know how much mama loves her baby girl.
