Hi! My cat just had 5 healthy kittens three days ago. We are a little worried about the runt though, because he wasn't nursing unless I put him by a nipple until he began to suckle. I had to hold him there for about thirty minutes until he was finished and Cleo (our queen) got up to go eat, etc.
Although she isn't abandoning the runt or anything, we're still a little scared he won't make it because of having a hard time nursing. We gave him some formulA yesterday because he was not nursing at all. The bigger ones aren't really being mean to him or pushing, but he just won't suckle or latch onto the nipple. Cleo still cleans him and takes care of him, like if I pick him up and he meows, she will even come pick him up.
Though this morning he had managed to crawl away from the others and was cold when I picked him up. My sister and I were worried that he was dying, but when we managed to get him warm and Cleo cleaned him and etc, we fed him some more KMR and he was fine in about 10 minutes, meowing and crawling around.
Now he is still fine, but I will have to go to school/work in a couple days and nobody will be able to feed him every hour and a half-two hours. Should I just leave him there by Cleo and hope he will be able to nurse whiel I'm gone or what? I'm very worried.
Sorry it was a bit rambling/long. Any help is appreciated.
Also, I at least want to try to save him even if he is tiny and a little weak. He is so much smaller than the others it is crazy!
