My Ripken past away Saturday 10/21 @ 6:00pm. I am so confused and blame myself for not responding quicker. Ripken was the best cat I've ever, ever had, and I've had cats almost my entire life.
I did notice he was drinking a lot more water than normal but did not think to much of this but then he started scratching his chin very hard. I thought that maybe it was dry skin. I finally took him to the vets and told the vet that he was drinking a lot but that did not seem as bad, so he gave hin a cortisone shot for allergies.
I took him home and the following day he was very lethargic, I did not take him back to the vets for 2 more days and by then he could not even walk to long nor was he eating.
The vet said he was conserred about diabetes so he kept him over and pumped him with fluids. His sugar level was at 400, but then the vet said that his kidneys and liver were not working right.
By the time I got to the vets his breathing was bad also because of fluid in his lungs. We had to put Ripken down at the age of 11, way to young to die.
He was my best friend and there will never be another like him. I miss him so much I still have water in my eyes thinking of him.
Some day he and I will meet at that bridge and be together again forever.
