I had to put my beloved little fifteen-month-old kitty to sleep September 15 due to FIP. She'd only been with us for about six months, but she managed to wiggle her way deep into our hearts.
We originally thought our puppy had stepped on her, because she first started limping, and then we had one vet tell us she had a fractured vertebrae, but then whenever she walked, it would be very wobbly and she'd frequently fall down, and finally she couldn't walk at all. We took her to a specialist and they ran some tests, and the results showed that she was positive for the Coronavirus. From other physical tests the specialists ran, they discovered that she had virtually no use of her legs or tail, which is why she wasn't walking or getting up to use the litterbox. They pretty much confirmed that it was FIP. We gave her about a week after that, but one night she started having pretty bad seizures, and crying even when nobody touched her, so we made The Call to the vet.
It was a heartwrenching day for all of us. We brought our puppy to the appointment as well, and even he seemed upset. After she was gone, he just laid his head on the pillow next to her, with the most worried and hurt expression on his face that I've ever seen from a dog.
It's already been two weeks, but I still sometimes hear her little chirp or see a shadow and think it's my Norah.
Rest in peace, my pretty girl.
