I have a 12 year old nuetered male (Buster) who has been on prednisone for about 6 years for suspected pancreantitis, IBD etc... Long time ago I weaned him down to the smallest possible dose (.25mg every other day). He did pretty well as far as vomiting was concerned, but I always wondered about long term. Recently I saw a new vet. He is off the pred totally and eating a very simple food (California Natural Chicken and Rice). He is doing very well. Vomited twice in 3 weeks, hair is growing back and coat is soft and shiny. The other boys have improved coats as well. They all like the food. Here is my question...
Last November he had a bought of reverse sneezing. I took him in and they took xrays to check lungs for signs of asthma. Found nothing, told me to up his pred because the steroid would be the treatment anyway. He didn't do it again until a few weeks ago. He is doing it more often that I am aware of. 6 episodes in 3 weeks aprox...had a fit just a little while ago. Does anyone have experience with this? I did some quick online research for Feline Asthma and his situation does not match. Just wondering how worried I should be...
Thanks for the help.
