Hi all,
Does anyone know if there is a problem with giving a cat Rescue Remedy if he is taking other medication? My Oliver is currently taking Elavil (amitriptyline?) for spraying and it has made him seem "happier" overall, but at times he gets really stressed around the other cat and I would like to give him a dose of Rescue Remedy. Will this cause a problem?

No, there's no problem giving any flower essences with other medications.

Thanks, jlitt. My main concern was the alcohol in the rescue remedy. Could this cause a problem? I've heard that alcohol with certain medications can be a problem for people, but I won't be letting Oliver drive or operate any heavy machinery
I didn't know if that could have any other adverse effects.

The alcohol in the Rescue Remedy isn't high in concentration. They use it as a preservative for the essences. I believe there is a animal version of it without alcohol. I saw it at my Health Food Store. Good luck!

You're giving such a tiny amount that they don't get much alcohol at all. If you're still worried, you can dilute it down with more water, and that'll work fine too.
