Hi all,
I have a semi-feral mom cat and her 3 kittens. Mom got fixed 10 days ago and is healed up, so it would be safe for her to see and play with her kids. I tried reintroducing a couple of them (one at a time), and mom was hissing and even chased them a bit. We're planning on keeping mom in order to socialize her, and keeping the one kitten who isn't as bonded to her siblings (who will stay together and are being adopted after they heal from their spay & neuter next week).
Is the hissing/mild aggression normal in this situation? Mom has been separate from them for about 3 weeks. They haven't tried to nurse on her or anything like that. Also, after the hissing/chasing happens and we take the kitten out of the room & shut door, then mama starts meowing at the door.
Any advice? Thank you.
