Some of you may have read my posts about Reeses and how she was throwing up starting on Thanksgiving week. We had changed her food the Tuesday before Thanksgiving because she wasn't eating much, thinking she just didn't like it. It turns out that was a result of her being in heat. As soon as we changed the food she threw up on Wednesday & Friday. We went to see the vet on Friday and she had a slight fever (102.8) and was dehydrated a bit. She was given fluids and Amoxi-Drops and all was fine the rest of Friday & Saturday. Sunday she threw up twice, first some liquid and then some food later in the day (she threw up food every other time too).
On Monday I believe it was, I put her back on her old food because they thought also the quick change in her food may not be agreeing with her. Monday - Wednesday was fine with no problems and we dropped her off Wed. night to get spayed. Thursday she came home and was of course tired and lethargic for a bit. Friday morning she threw up food immediately after eating and the vet said that was normal as she had surgery just a day before. I waited a few hours, gave her more food and she she fine for the rest of the day but she threw up Saturday night. Yesterday (Sunday) was fine, but then this morning (Monday) she threw up food again. So I took her back to the vet (and another $80 later) and while her fever had gone down by the time she was spayed, it was back again, this time 103.2, but she wasn't dehdrayted.
SO, I got sent home with Amoxi-Drops again, and the vet took some blood for a CBC test because she thinks it may be a rare feline virus. Reeses acts fine, her eyes look good, her fur is alittle dull, and she has lost alittle weight (went from 7lbs to 6.10 in 3 weeks), but other than that only the throwing up is any sign that anything is wrong. I will hear back from her tomorrow and I really hope that they find what the problem is. If they don't find it through that test, there is another they'll have to do at $75.
I want her to get better obviously for her, but also because this is getting expensive. Since her very first vet visit and her spay we've spent $600 already. I don't feel bad for getting her the care she needs, but at what point do you draw the line? I can't keep spending $80 a week for vet visits, anti-biotics and whatever else. She needs to get better eventually
