Red Bellied Black Snake!

I was folding laundry when I spotted this red-bellied black snake in the backyard, quickly grabbed a camera and got a few photos of it while it was soaking in some brief sunshine. I'm obsessed with photographing wildlife and was so excited to spend a few moments observing this snake. I noticed how it flattened it's body, presumably to absorb more heat.

How cool! I love observing snakes, they are so misunderstood like cats. Most people will kill them without even knowing they are venomous or not. The Australian red belly is venomous but not enough that they have ever killed anyone. A real find! Thank you for sharing!

Cool! When my cat was outdoors, he would bring me a gift of a harmless and unharmed orange bellied snake. O joy. That was quickly vetoed.
