Hello! We are moving to another state in a few weeks. We've already booked a flight with Alaska Airlines. Has anyone traveled with Alaska before and which carrier did you use for an in cabin pet? Thanks!
I flew a GSD puppy out from the midwest years ago, in the cabin. Not problems, but you don't want to get to the airport and find out that there is one.
Alaska does not say that they will remove the cat from the carrier ( to check the carrier) but many airlines do.
Some airlines are picky about the carrier size, and some state that the dog or cats ears can't touch the top of the carrier. I'm not sure if Alaskan Airlines is one of those, but if you read the link fionasmom
posted and still have questions I would call the airline and ask them to clarify any areas you're unsure of.
Thanks for the replies. I'm mainly just curious how strict they are. I've read some comments before people having bad experiences with pretty much every airline, because their cat is too tall or because the carrier size is too long by an inch...
We have a carrier from Amazon which says airline approved: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GB62JD4/?tag=thecatsite, but the dimensions are 19.1"L x 10.6"W x 12.0"H. Alaska Airlines say they need to dimensions to be under 17" x 11" x 9.5". I'm wondering if I should get a smaller carrier, but also worry my cat might be too tall...
I also noticed when I read the AA page that they are not requiring a health clearance. However, it is on another page as below and a subsequent page with even a little more info about the restriction of short nosed breeds of dogs and cats.
I had a little bit of trouble with their website. If these links do not work, check/call to make sure you are not going to be turned back the day of the flight.
