My husband is a hunter as well as the rest of his family. This gives me unlimited access to free elk and deer trimmings as well as all the pheasant legs and thighs I want. I'm a little slow so it has taken me until now to realize that i can probably make my own cat food and not have to purchase ANY meat. Where do i start? I have 2 cats and a large freezer so i would like to make a month or so worth of food at a time. Thanks guys!

http://www.thecatsite.com/t/263955/helpful-resources-raw-home-cooked-cat-food-forum   is a sticky at the top of the forum that is a good general guide with a lot of links.

The easiest way is with a pre-mix like alnutrin.  It has the vitamins and minerals that need added.  If you don't use a premix than you will need to add either bone or egg shell for calcium.  If the premix doesn't have liver in it then you will need to add fresh liver.  There are also other ways of adding the vitamins and minerals.
