Hi everyone!
I have a almost 7 year old female Applehead Siamese/Ragdoll mix (she looks like a Siamese, but her size is like a female ragdoll) named "Simi" and a 2.5 year old male purebred Ragdoll named "Homer."
I recently took Homer to the vet (poor guy had a really bad cold that scared the crap out of me) and found out he is only 11lbs. I say "only" because 1) our Simi is 13lbs as a female, and 2) Homer's dad was HUGE! I'm not sure how much his dad weighed, but that guy was a very big boy (not fat at all, just a big guy). I know Ragdolls are a large breed, so I was kind of expecting Homer to be as big or almost as big as his dad. We did not pick Homer because of his dad's size or anything, but since he is only 11lbs at 2.5 years old I'm wondering if he is too thin or if he will grow any more?
Homer is an EXTREMELY picky eater. He won't eat any raw food (tried multiple times), will ONLY eat Wellness Selects Shredded canned food (it can't be cubed, minced, or pate - must be shredded), but loves dry food of all kinds (though we only give him Wilderness and Instinct). He only gets dry food on occasion and eats wet food twice a day. When we feed him, he will only eat a small can of the Wellness Selects shredded canned foods twice a day. I have tried feeding him a large can at each feeding to see if he will eat more and he ends up leaving half and then we have to take it away before Simi tries to eat it.
Homer is VERY active. We call him our crazy boy. We have a an enclosed Catio (cat patio) for him to play in to enjoy the outdoors a bit and we leave our sliding door open for him to go in and out. Every day he will dart around from the Catio through the house and back outside (sometimes a few times) and is always chasing Simi to try to get her to play with him (Simi wants none of that. We are considering getting a 3rd kitty for Homey to play with).
I just want to see what you guys think as far as his weight goes for his age and if you think he will grow anymore? I know Ragdolls grow until they are about 4 years old, but I just want to make sure I'm not doing something that may be stunting his growth.
Thank you for your time! Looking forward to hearing from you.
