Hello,

My furry friends Skye is just over a year now and she's due for her yearly checkup. Do you vaccinate for rabies? If so, do you do the 1year or 3 years vaccine?

Thank you!!

Thank you for your reply!

Do I have to ask the vet for the non adjuvanted one?
I'm not too sure what that means :dunno:

The first rabies vaccine Skye got, I believe it was Purevax.

Our cats have always been indoors only and always get a rabies vaccine.
Depending which state you live in the laws may differ regarding this vaccine. Here is a helpful Article that not only discusses the rabies vaccine for indoor cats but also legal requirements and mandatory regulations:

Yes I keep them current. Anything can happen and you are really covering yourself from major hassle by keeping the cats protected. If the cat has not been vaccinated before or has an unknown medical history (such as with rescue cats) they will do a 1 year vaccine but the next time it will be the 3 year vaccine. Rabies vaccines are safe and as far as vaccines go very affordable so there is no real reason not to do it unless the vet feels the cat is so health compromised
