Hi!
I have a 13 year old cat and two twin 7 month old kittens that were foster failures that I officially adopted in October. They spent the holidays (Thanksgiving through just after New Years) at my parents house with me where they ate blue wilderness chicken adult cat food and occasionally ate blue wilderness duck dog food. While at my parents house, the kittens would occasionally have a bit of loose stools. We gave them pumpkin and they would be fine the next day. Just to be sure, I took them for their last set of shots and to see my parents regular vet. They had an exam/shots/everything looked good. We came back home three weeks ago and all was well. This week, we got to the bottom of the food I had here--which unfortunately was a mix of blue kitten, blue mature adult chicken flavor, and the blue wilderness freedom adult chicken (all three gluten/grain free because I'm gluten/grain free). This seemed ok until I gave them a new flavor of canned food (friskies, terrible, I know). All three cats puked 2x so I threw out all of the food we had and got new food (blue wilderness adult chicken freedom). The old kitty never had runny stools and was fine almost immediately and a day later, the girl kitten, had solid stools again. My problem child, Ollie, has had intermittent loose and not loose stools still and tonight after eating a little food he puked again. I took the food away but later when we tried again with some fresh pumpkin and food, he puked, yet again.
So, two cats (3 yr old/7 mo old girl) are perfectly fine. My snuggly baby boy, however, is still having issues. He's always had a more sensitive stomach (thus why no vet yet since the girl is all better and I assumed it was a food issue) so tonight I took away all of their dry food and after a few hours fed them wet food. I previously withheld the wet to let everyone's tummy and stools get better. SO FAR an hour after feeding them wet food (blue wilderness chicken flavor) we have no puking from Ollie. I can potentially get him to the vet in the morning but we're getting hit by a snow storm so I'm not sure how best to proceed if this is looking more and more like a food allergy issue. Aside from the loose stools, and now tonight the puking again, he drinks, he asks for food, and he has been very active playing with his sister. A few hours ago he was chasing the 13 yr old around as well. Should I try some probiotics first? Can I get those from the natural food pet store? Could it be an allergy to one of the other foods in the blue dry food? I can get the limited ingredient stuff tomorrow potentially. Am I an overly worried cat parent who isn't waiting enough time for him to feel better from the icky friskies flavor? I accidentally fed them a flavor with wheat gluten in it . Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!
