Same here; between the hearing loss and tinnitus, carrying on a phone conversation is, at best, difficult. If the person on the other end has any kind of foreign accent? Forget it.
Email, because I type a lot faster than I text.
I prefer texts or email depending. I chat with my sister on Messanger or we do zoom calls or phone calls.
If I'm looking to buy something (recently bought a Samsung Tablet) I like to get on a chat with a sales person. I've discovered they will often find more discounts for you than they show on the web sites.
