I haven't seen the movie. I've got personal respect for your tastes W Willowy and probably won't bother. The movie is rarely as good as the book!
It's a good movie in itself. But the changes they made make everything different, IMO. Making him 16 instead of 12 (far too late for proper brainwashing!), various other more spoil-y things I won't mention. If you watch it for itself you won't be too disappointed but it definitely doesn't have the impact of the book.

I loved to read when I was a kid. I still do but I have double vision and it is difficult for me to read. I loved Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books. Also To Kill A Mockingbird and Come Back Little Sheba.
