How interesting--it never occurred to me that there are people who can't tell time on a regular watch with hands.  I guess I'm one of those "older people"
  -- I can't imagine not wearing a watch.
Yes, they can't! They don't even seem to notice when their watch needs a new battery. I mentioned this to someone, and they said "I don't know", and I remarked "I'm letting you know that your watch needs a new battery" then they replied "Maybe"

I used to wear a watch ever since I was a child, then one of my watches ran out of battery, and another and so on until the last one. I was too busy to have them changed that I don't even know where they went
A couple of years ago I got a new watch but the battery ran out again, so... can you guess?
I keep forgetting to get the battery changed

Us elderlies were taught to tell the time with the clock face. Nowadays kids aren't taught half as much as we were. My watch not only has hands but also the day and date. That's for my forgetfulness.
I'm in bed. I have my watch, alarm clock and phone.
