Apple season is in 'full swing' here. i live in a rural agricultural area in which there are many (many) apple orchards, so this time of year i see truck after truck stacked high with crates full of apples being moved to storage. there are just about as many trucks moving the crates off to the stores. there are other crops being harvested too, both fruit and vegetable crops, though apples are the 'big' crop in my area. towards the end of the apple harvesting here (the third weekend in september), the closest town to me puts on the annual 'Harvest Fest'.
so with these thoughts on my mind, for today's Question of the Day --
Are there any seasonal events (fairs, carnivals, festivals, sporting events or contests, etc) in your area this time of year?
i'll start!
Harvest Fest here has vendors (75 vendors is the limit, as the town is small), festival type food, a 5k walk or run, arts & crafts, farmer's market, huge pumpkins, and of course the 'pumpkin droppin' -- where a man way up high (75 feet high) on a 'lift cage' using a crane drops pumpkins down onto the road below, kids and adults do a count down for each pumpkin drop. there's also pumpkin, apple, and watermelon carving, hay rides, as well as other activities.
when i lived in the city of Rochester, NY, i would attend the Clothesline Festival -- http://mag.rochester.edu/events/clothesline-festival/ . i enjoyed the Clothesline Festival very much.
okay, now it's your turn!
