Tonight when I was leaving work and taking the business mail out to one of those big blue mail boxes I saw some people, including the mailman trying to lure a cat out from under a car parked on the street. Apparently the mailman had emptied the mail into his box and a cat jumped out and ran under this car. He said there was no way that cat got in there on its own, it was put in. It was rush hour but a gal finally lured the cat out with a piece of bacon. I offered to take it since we weren't sure how late the shelter stays open and she had dogs so wouldnt have felt comfortable taking it home. I have three cats already and a cat-tested+approved dog. She was just shaking when I took her to the car and I thought she was going to freak out during the drive but she just plopped right down, probably exhausted. So I felt bad and just took her home for tonight to let her recourperate. I put her alone in a room in our basement with food and water (and she was hungry) and my husband and I examined her and we think that she is pregnant. She has pink, large nipples and does not like her belly touched at all. She is also very loving. She is not going to get along with our other animals I assume, especially when she is carrying kittens and we don't really want another cat but I am not sure if the humane society will take a pregnant cat. I know they dont want young kittens because they said they get sick too easily. I am not really sure what to do. Someone suggested having them aborted and getting her spayed rather than let them be homeless (if she is prego) but I think we could find homes for them, especially since she was abandoned in a mail box. Talk about tampering with the mail...kitty pee on our letters. Jerks. Well advice would be great, thank you.
