Onyx has been losing weight over the last few weeks. Her appetite seemed fine, but she kept getting skinnier. She had a sneeze, too, so we started her on Clavamox. After a few days without results, we took her to the vet. Her temperature was only slightly elevated, but her white blood cell count was very high, so high that the vet convinced me to re-test her for FeLk. The test was negative. A small mass was found in her abdomen, and xrays showed it is pushing aside the liver and bowel. Liver enzymes showed up in her urine. Her blood liver enymes were slightly lower than normal. The vet recommended changing from Clavamox to Flagyl. She also gave us some Nutrical and Rx food, MaxiCal by Nutro.
The first day went ok. I gave Onyx her Flagyl last night, though, and she right away developed a foamy drool. She refused to eat or drink, and wouldn't clean the Nutrical glob off her paw. I had to wipe it off after 30 minutes because it was solidifying.
We have been giving her water and Pedialyte via eyedropper, and she did drink water and eat a small piece of cooked chicken on her own tonight.
This afternoon, I held her and petted and kissed her, and told her that I would love for her to eat, drink, and get better, but if that was not what would be best for her, it was okay with me if she needed to go. It was after that, that she drank and ate, so I am hopeful...
Please send get better vibes for Onyx! She's had a tough life and we've only had a year with her to give her the love and care she deserves. (Her story is on our website). Thank you from us both.
