Pothos plant toxicity?

Hello, how toxic is a pothos plant? I've heard they're really good clean air plants and I picked one up the other day, but then i read they are toxic to cats. Is this something that will seriously harm my cats or is it just an irritation? Should I ditch it immediately or keep it out of reach?

Personally I'd get rid of the plant. Pothos are very irritating if ingested. http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/animal-poison-control/toxic-and-non-toxic-plants/golden-pothos

I've got a pothos in the kitchen in a hanging pot, and the cats can't reach it. I have lots of houseplants, and neither of my cats bother them. In fact, I am more worried about the cats damaging the plants than vice versa. I have an etagere with African violets on it that Lily loves to hop up on to look out the window, so I cleared out a place for her. Don't want to risk the violets getting fur on them.
