My 17 year old FIV+ cat has lost over 3lbs. Possibly more. She's not eating right, and her feces output is very low, very dry. The vet found a mass in her belly today. She is going to have some blood tests and a urinalysis to try to figure out what might be going on. The stomach mass could be a tumor or it could be a fecal ball. If it's a fecal ball, it doesn't explain the weight loss, but the dry small poop could be indicative of kidney failure issues if she's consistently staying dehydrated due to kidney failure even though she's drinking and peeing. I know she's old, and in all likelihood, she's terminally ill, but it's still hard to think about letting her go. I will get blood results on Monday and then we will determine what the next step is.
