Good morning all,
I REALLY need some advice here. I know that this will make you all as angry as it has made me. I really need to do something about it, but I'm not sure how to go about it. That's where you all come in....so please help.
My bf's brother and his gf live in a trailer park. Not a particularly nice one and there are cats everywhere. One of these cats belongs to them. He's a male who has never even seen a vet. He lives outside and is lucky to find a clean water bowl on his porch. These people should not have pets. They are family, but I DON'T CARE!!! There's NO excuse for letting this situation get to the point it has gotten to. Please excuse me if this becomes a bit lengthly, but I can't help but rant about it. Anyhoo...we were over there last night. There are stray kittens everywhere. But there was one that was so sick, I could'nt stand to even look at it. It broke my heart. This little kitten looked to be about 6 wks old. His eyes were goopy, he had a crusty outline around his nose and was sneezing and weezing like crazy. It was apparent that he was miserable as he continues rubbing his eyes, only to make the goop spread even more. He did'nt run, but would hiss if you tried to approach. Needlesstosay, I would not have handled it anyway. I have 2 indoor cats of my own and would NEVER risk exposing them to anything potentially dangerous.
But that does'nt change the fact that the situation needs tending to. Not seeing it does'nt erase it from my memory and it does'nt make the problem non-existant. Their cat roams the property line scrapping with other (presumably) male cats that try wandering onto "his" property. I'm assuming that all these momma cats are part of his harem. A lot of the kittens I've seen are the same orange tabby type that he is. They said they're making an appointment this weekend to get him neutered....Yeah, I've heard that before. He's still apparantly knocking-up every female in the park. I hate to stereotype here, but what is it about trailer parks and the fact that they always house a ton of un-neutered/spayed cats??? If you can't afford to take care of them....DON'T HAVE THEM!!!!
But even IF they get their cat fixed, what about the damage he has already done?? If there's one kitten that sick, I'm sure there are more. Do I call animal control?? Do I call a shelter?? I thought about a have-a-heart trap but I can't stand the thought of a cat "freaking" out in that thing untill he's hopefully found the next morning??? I don't live close enough to moniter something like that and I have no doubt that these people just don't care enough to even worry about it. I'm really upset about the whole thing and I just can't get my mind off that poor little kitten. I NEED to act on this......what should I do???? I desperately need some suggestions. Please help....I would be so grateful. Thank-you
