Hi all! I'm new to the site. I have a newly adopted pregnant kitty that is ***hopefully*** going to deliver any day now. She's acting super weird at times, but has not gone into labor yet. To save time, I've copied and pasted below a post I made on a related thread:
My cat is super pregnant too!!! I'm so nervous about the whole process. I've had an un-neutered kitty before, so this is all new to me. She just showed up at the house at the beginning of May, and her nipples were already enlarged, so I estimated that she got pregnant a couple weeks prior, but I really have no clue. My calendar math estimates that she will definitely deliver by the end of the month, but I really expected it to be this week. She's just a little girl, about 6 months old probably... and she's so full of kittens that I just want this to be over with already so I can stop fretting over whether or not she runs out the door to go nest in the barn. I'm also excited to meet the wee ones. But mainly, I'm just worried about her and I want everything to go smoothly.
The issue is that she keeps faking me out. She's been doing it for like 3 days. Yesterday morning, she got on her blanket, and didn't want to get off for ANYTHING... snacks, going out to sit on the porch, litterbox, or ANYTHING. This is so unlike her. I brought her all her things... food, water, litter pan, etc. She stayed there all day. She wasn't running a fever, and didn't seem uncomfortable. She was alert. She just didn't want to leave her blanket. I thought the kittens were finally going to arrive, but by night-time, she was running around the house like a nut, playing with toys, asking to go out, eating like a horse, and generally acting like her normal self. All day today, she has acted totally normal, and even hunted in the yard for awhile. But tonight, she's been a little odd again. She's still playing and acting like she feels fine, but she's been simultaneously clingy and aloof (only a cat could pull that off). She follows me around the house and plops down wherever I am, but she leaves if I try to pet her, and has been more vocal than normal. I wish these kittens would come... I'm so nervous. Haven't noticed too much licking of her rear (she can't really reach it), but she's bathing more in general. Argh. What to do. She wants to go outside so badly... I just can't risk her running off.
Sorry for the essay. I'm a nervous grandma.
