I know my oldest baby is sick... She hides to sleep whenever she is sick. She has been doing that the past 2 days. And, today she had "stinky butt" (all you experienced cat parents know what I am referring to!) so she had to get a bath. Normally, she loves baths... But when it's for that reason, she hates it and fights with every ounce of energy she has!! Luckily for me, she was too tired to really injure me so I was unharmed.
She's a generally healthy girl. She will be 7 in May and has only been sick one other time in that whole time. It was in the fall of 2010 and she had a nasty bug, pneumonia really. She almost died! She lost more than half her body weight and her hair started falling out. It took her a couple of months to really get over it and be her old and gorgeous self.
This time is no where near that bad. Doc A (her vet and the one I will be interning with when my time comes) had me examine her while I was on the phone. We've ruled out a URI because her screaming confirmed her lungs are clear but I checked them anyway. They sound clear. So he thinks she may have a small infection or it could be as simple as allergies. I had some left over Clavamox and it seems to help. It perks her up. Also some Ophthimalic ointment for her eyes as they are runny and goopy right now.
She is still eating good and her stools seem to be firmer. She feels good enough for a few hours (usually after I give her some medicine) to come out of hiding and interact. Not really playing but being social, at least.
Purrs and positive vibes for my sweet girl, please. She has an appointment on Monday. Doc A said she is in good hands and it doesn't seem to be an emergency right now. Anyway, like any momma, I get frantic when any of my furkids are sick!! Thank you!!
