Pet Tracking Systems?

Does anyone know of any kind of tracking system for a pet? I'm thinking along the lines of the HomeAgain, or AVID microchips for cats, but anything like a collar or something that might actually transmit some kind of signal you can look for if the cat isn't right infront of you? Has anyone ever heard of such a thing at all?

I'm looking for something almost like a LoJack for Cats/Dogs.
