I was wondering if anyone has pet insurance and what their experiences were.

It’s too late for my present menagerie (one kitty and one dog) but for future furkids I was wondering.

I tend to think it’s kind of a rip-off. For example, a few companies cap out around 5 grand per condition per year. That wouldn’t have covered my costs for Clancy, let alone the dog, who has a heart problem.

If you have pet insurance, do you think it’s worth it?

Of course it depends on the company and the plan you get. The company I got insurance with (Healthy Paws) doesn't have any caps or limits.

I have pet insurance for my newest dog. I'm not sure if it will be "worth it" but if he ever needs a new hip or something I'd like to be able to cover it. If premiums don't go up dramatically I'll pay around $6000 or $7000 in premiums over his lifetime. If he never needs any major medical care that's a lot but if he does end up needing a lot of care $6000 can fly by pretty quickly. I haven't had to file a claim yet but they seem nice and helpful so far.
