that I could understand, I think I would be very depressed with out my animals! I think even though it wouldn't replace the animal(s) that had past it might be a good idea to get another one. I always fear a fire or something (and being that we are on the 3rd floor) I worry I wouldn't be home or would panic and loose them. When we lost Manny to diabetes, I was 13, he was 10. I was only 3 when we got him, he had always been around for as long as I could remember.
After hat I dropped out of school and started...... self harming myself, and often had thoughts of suicide. My dog (then puppy) was the only thing holding me back.
I agree that is a bit extreme.. but I loved him more than anything. I bet those people did too.
